Information hygiene and safer discovery
When a sudden, nationwide lockdown was announced in March 2020 with just four hours' notice, millions of daily wage laborers found themselves instantly jobless, homeless, and on the verge of starvation. Without public transportation, a massive reverse migration began—marking the largest human exodus since the 1947 Partition of India.
With no public transport available, the men embarked on this gruelling journey on their bicycles, packing whatever they could carry. For seven days, director Vinod Kapri travelled alongside them, filming their journey. The documentary does not rely on dramatic voice-overs or sensationalism. Instead, it focuses on the raw, unvarnished reality of their daily struggle—the physical exhaustion, the hunger, the societal apathy, and the discrimination and abuse they faced along the way.
The documentary is noted for its "raw" and "unfiltered" cinematography, showcasing the inequality that became highly visible during the pandemic. Why You Must Watch 1232 Kms (2021) 1232 kms 2021 filmyflycom link
