Scintilla Magneto Manual
Always take detailed pictures before and during disassembly, as the internal alignment is precise.
Use a small amount of high-temperature, ball-bearing grease. Over-greasing can be as bad as under-greasing, as it can fling onto the points and cause misfires.
With rotor installed at #1 firing position, the manual instructs to loosen the coil hold-down screws and slide the coil until a 0.004" feeler gauge fits between the rotor magnet and the coil pole. Tighten, then confirm points just begin to open at that rotor position.

Carefully insert the magneto into the engine drive gear or coupling, ensuring the marks do not slip.
Seal the magneto housing or the entire engine assembly in a plastic barrier bag with desiccant packs. Moisture will degrade the fine wire insulation inside the secondary coil over time.
This is the holy grail. The exploded view shows every washer, spring, bearing, and screw. Scintilla was famous for using odd-sized screws and proprietary springs. With the diagram, you can identify a lost part (#22: "Spring, centrifugal advance"). Always take detailed pictures before and during disassembly,

A mechanical switch operated by a cam on the rotating shaft. It interrupts the primary circuit to induce a high-voltage surge.
Without the manual, you risk damaging the coil (which is irreplaceable) or setting the timing incorrectly, leading to kickback and broken starter paws. With rotor installed at #1 firing position, the
Use the specified pin in the designated timing hole to hold the unit at the correct position during assembly.
